Benidorm famous for its nightlife and hotel industry
Benidorm is popular with working class British tourists. Due to the package holiday explosion its popularity continues thanks to the year round night-life centred around the central concentration of bars and clubs. It's the large number of free cabaret acts that start around 9pm and continue into the early hours that set Benidorm apart from other similar resorts. Until the tourist industry began in the 1960s, Benidorm was a small village. Today it stands out for its hotel industry, beaches and skyscrapers, which were built as a result of its tourist-oriented economy.
Levante beach, Poniente beach and Mal Pas beach
Benidorm has three major beaches: Levante beach, Poniente beach and Mal Pas beach; all of them have a blue flag, the maximum quality standard recognised by the European Union. Previously the tallest building in Spain, the Gran Hotel Bali is a 4-star hotel standing 186 meters high, is located in this city.
